Sakaruba v Gracie Pride 2000 90 minute fight

Pride made rules changes that benefited Sakarurba and surprisingly Sakuraba won

Gracie beat Sakaruba at K-1 2007

Thats what Khabib, was saying during his post fight press conference, he wants the UFC and MMA to be serious and there shouldn't any trash talking or hurling personal insults

fair play to khabib, the cunts got what they deserved for their behaviour in the build up to the fight

Only just seen the highlights and that mick took one hell of a pasting.

Fella didn't really do his religion any favours though by acting afterwards like it is currently thought of by the majority of people.

Russian lunatic - ha ha!!

Re: Anyone watching the Khabib vs McGregor fight?
Boxing is 'The Noble Art' because of the Queensbury Rules. In a fight, if you see an opening for a kick in the Nuts, you should be able to take that opportunity. With so many rules, boxing is more like snooker than it is MMA.

That's not to say one is good and the other is shit, they are incomparable as different sports.

Only boxers would win a boxing match and only MMA fighters would win that, so saying 'they wouldn't beat a boxer at boxing' is obvious and pointless as it works the other way round too - early UFC did in fact have boxers barely landing a punch before a Brazilian Ju-Jitsu fighter like Royce Gracie would simply take them down and make them submit.

It's like saying all footballers are shit at sports because they'd never score a try in professional rugby.

Re: Anyone watching the Khabib vs McGregor fight?
The stance is totally different to boxing its square on so you can jab either left or right hand and no dancing about, , the kicks are done with the shin which is a hard bone, mainly kicks in the thigh can slow someone down considerably

The movement is foot to foot like rocking when not fighting

You're entitled to your opinion norm. Muay Thai, kickboxing, k1 etc ain't for everyone. For what its worth there have been and are a fair few very respected and successful western MT fighters.

Boxing is king but it’s becoming a joke as well.

These wwf build ups for fights are cringe.
Obviously corrupt
Big fights not happening.
Too many belts/champions.

I don't know, nobody wants to run into a teep (push kick) to the chops.

Of course, as you mentioned, getting uppercut to the face with an elbow wouldn't be much fun either.

8 weapons rather than 2

I think tight in or clinch would more useful than long range

Well, the biggest advantage over boxing would be being allowed to use 6 other parts of the body to strike with!

Re: Anyone watching the Khabib vs McGregor fight?
Thai Boxing stance is different to boxing its square on so you can jab with left or right no dancing about its more a foot to foot transfer of weight

The advantage ovre boxing would be when you are in tight or in clinch where you can utilize upper cut elbows and Knees which come in under the ribs at 45 degrees
